In the "Letters from my father" series of collages I create imaginary worlds of childhood from adult chaos. These traditional and digital collages weave together imagery from my oil paintings, drawings, digital paintings, photographs, and letters to explore and reflect fragmented memory. Working back and forth between traditional and digital media, the first images in this series are limited edition digital originals—they don't exist in a tangible form until printed. More recent images in this series are unique collages, often begun by printing fragments from this first series. Using primarily non-adhesive methods (www.talbot1.com), I often draw and paint upon the "final" actual collages with watercolor pencil, and will become digitized and reused as source imagery. You can also see a few more of the source images in the Painting and Drawing portfolios. Click on an artwork thumbnail below to enlarge it here.
